Dr. Shem-Tov was a patient at North York Dental since he was a young boy and was inspired by his childhood dentist, Dr. Tom McKean (past President of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario), to pursue a career in dentistry.
As an undergraduate, Dr. Shem-Tov studied neuroscience at the University of Toronto. In 1988, he entered the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Western Ontario and received his DDS. He then returned home to North York and became the dentist at his boyhood practice.

Dr. Shem-Tov is currently a clinical instructor at the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto. He has volunteered his dental skills in his travels to Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Central America.
Dr. Shem-Tov lives in the Annex and is a passionate cyclist, avid skier and horrible golfer. He is more than happy to swap recipes and stories about his two children, Levi and Zoe.

who can stop their pain, help them maintain their dental health, and advise them when they want to improve their smile. That's why he’s selected the following professionals
to work with him.
Lilin Ye- Hygienist
Lilin is a doctor who moved to Canada some years ago. She decided
to stay in healthcare and bring her knowledge and dedication to her new
career as a hygienist. Lilin has recently completed a restorative dental hygiene course (RRDH). RRDH is an intensive one-year program offered
only at two colleges in Ontario with limited seating. There are
approximately 400 expanded duty dental hygienists in Canada! In this
program, attention is given to technique in placement of white fillings,
achieving a proper bite, and accurate anatomy of fillings. She can also take
impressions of all kinds, including crowns. This is all in addition to her
light touch and excellent level of care for your gums. We are lucky to have
Lilin on our team!

Lucy Stancato- Office Administrator
Lucy has over 20 years experience
working in dental offices, starting off as a dental assistant and then
moving to reception. At North York Dental she wears many hats and is responsible for several aspects of our administration. Along with handling front desk duties, she is the office book-keeper and is responsible for our accounting,
payroll and receivables. She has a kind disposition and will answer any of your questions relating to insurance claims. Lucy also has her own esthetic services business that she runs out of her home.

Leone Nufrio- Office Administrator
Dr. Shem-Tov remembers coming to North
York Dental as a boy and being greeted by Leone's warm smile and infectious
optimism. Today she is still greeting long-time patients and brings her
small town Alberta charm to new and old patients alike. Along with
front-desk duties, she is responsible for any estimates that are sent to
insurance companies and explaining complicated treatments to patients. She can be found, at local music venues, encouraging her husband who plays drums in his classic rock band, ‘The Whitehouse’.
